According to a report from App analytics firm AppFigures, Facebook's App downloads on the App Store and Google Play dropped 30% in April compared to the same month last year.
In May last year, Facebook's main app and its lightweight Lite app were averaging about 15 million downloads per week, but by June last year that had fallen to 13 million. By April, that load had dropped below 11 million. According to AppFigures, it probably has a lot to do with TikTok's growth.
TikTok remains the most downloaded App on the App Store and Google Play, with 52 million downloads in April. Looking at the App Store alone, Facebook had 9.9 million downloads last month, while TikTok had 15.9 million. Privacy concerns could also drive some users away from Facebook. Apple's latest update, iOS 14.5, requires developers to get users' consent before tracking them.
