Oppo becomes the licensee of the HEVC Advance patent pool

Access Advance announces that Oppo, the world's leading smart terminal technology company, has joined the HEVC Advance Patent Pool as a licensor. The addition of Oppo means that its HEVC/H.265 standard essential patents will be included in the license of the HEVC Advance patent pool, which currently includes over 13,700 patents worldwide and continues to grow.

"We are very pleased to join the HEVC Advance patent pool as a licensor, which is one of the results of Oppo's emphasis on video codec patent accumulation in recent years," said Ying Feng, Senior Director, Intellectual Property Department, Oppo. In the future, Oppo will continue to focus on the distribution of video codec patent assets and look forward to working with licensing platforms such as Access Advance that focus on balancing the interests of licensees and licensors to create a healthy ecosystem for HEVC and future video codec technologies."

Peter Moller, CEO of Access Advance: "We are very pleased that Oppo has joined the HEVC Advance patent pool not only as a licensee but also as a licensor, and Oppo's support is a further example of the broad market acceptance of our HEVC licensing program by patent enforcers and patentees. As we continue to provide industry-leading patent pool services, we look forward to combining Oppo's expertise and strengths to accelerate the adoption of next-generation technologies, including HEVC and soon VVC, to deliver a better consumer experience."
