Samsung motor extended MLCC patent license contract with Murata production Institute

Samsung electric CEO Kyung Kye Hyun confirmed the news at the annual general meeting, but did not disclose the details of the contract. Therefore, whether the content of MLCC's patent rights has changed smoothly or not has aroused the concern of Samsung motor industry.
It is reported that as early as 2011, Samsung motor won the patent lawsuit against Murata production Institute filed with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC), and signed a patent cross licensing agreement related to MLCC. After that, the parties terminated the lawsuit and continued to sign the contract for several years.
According to the agreement, Samsung motor and Murata do not pay each other patent license fees, which has been the case for the past decade. This time, however, it may change, because Samsung electric plans to obtain the MLCC patent for auto parts owned by Murata.
